Why we made this 

• Food waste is a serious issue approximtely 300 kilos per person annually in Australia. 
• Extending our "buy once, buy well" principle we wanted to increase the functionality of our best selling Tallows Pantry Jar Range. 
• Our design process led us to questions like
  • What if Tallow Jars could do more than store dry goods?  Spoiler alert: many of the team use Tallows predominately in their fridge.  
  • How can we maximise their usage and functionality?
  • What major challenges and issues do we face in our fridge with short life goods?
    
  • How can we reduce the environmental and household cost of food waste?
• Our Product Team developed prototypes made from LFBG Silicone to allow the jars to move from washing berries (a mandatory) to fridge storage that creates a functional layer between glass, food and reminant water with the smart "feet".  
  
• After several rounds of revision we've settled on this custom, locally designed concept. 
• It was important to us that the inserts were easy to store when not in use and hyper functional - they're designed to hold olives to fresh berries and beyond. 
• Our custom designed perforations allow easy identification (at a glance) and make washing and storing food simple (ideal for meal prep). 
• We added handles on both sides to allow the insert to be removed with ease - ensuring suitable clearance from the glass and silicone lid. 
• Combining the Tallows Jar with insert and the exceptional lid seal - creates an airtight environment to prolong the life of fresh produce.  
• The Silicone Inserts are suitable for handwashing or maximum convenience with dishwashing.
